Not too long ago, kamoranakrre and lcd_cow were listening to a band in New Orleans, Louisiana. Although the scene has changed quite a bit (as have the instruments!), it's still about a group of people making music in the picture of the day.

One of the things I like about St. Louis is its French heritage. (Not too many other American cities get such a chance to pronounce silent letters and shift vowels as we do!) One of the things I like about New Orleans is that its a Mississippi rivertown. We seem to have a lot in common with our neighbours downstream.

My most vivid memory of going to the Fox Theatre as a kid has little to do with being inside it. Instead it's heading outside after the show and seeing the parking lots outside with their competing glowing arrow signs. One lot is a warm colour and one is a cool picture of the day.

I recently mentioned that Cheap Lunch is a feature of being around the campus of fair Washington University (in St. Louis!). It's a tradition in many households to go for a walk, constitutional, stroll, or somesuch in the evenings. kamoranakrre thinks it's not a bad idea. Tonight he decided that he would walk to dinner at Wendy's... in Swansea, Illinois. With the help of MetroLink to get him across the river, he found his way to Illinois St. and the picture of the day.

Electronic metronomes can be very annoying. They beep and tock and ding and generally make obnoxious sounds in various patterns. There is nothing fluid about them; they just trigger at intervals and then go silent 'til the next time math and electricity combine to shout another tone.

I wonder who first decided that having addresses have identical numbers and street names but merely different direction prefixes was a good idea.

Unrelatedly, we ventured to Shattinger Music (on S Broadway) today. It was one of the clearest days I've seen in St Louis. There were absolutely no clouds to be seen in the skies over our fair city. ( Read more... )
